Parent & Toddler Group

Introduction to Plus Three Parent & Toddlers
‘Plus Three Parent & Toddler’ is an extension to ‘Plus Three Nurseries’ and aims to provide a welcoming fun, play environment for you and your toddler.

The toddler group has been set up to support both parents/carers and toddlers, this will be achieved through sharing experiences and advice and by giving toddlers the opportunity to develop their social and interactive skills from a variety of activities.

The group is run by ‘Plus Three Nursery’ staff. The Parent & Toddler qualified nursery practitioner with many years experience of children ‘learning through play'.

In order for everybody to enjoy and benefit from the group, we ask parents to make themselves familiar with the following information:

Our Group
Our group opens on a Wednesday afternoons, 1.30pm-3.00pm (term – time only). The group is held at Martins Heron & The Warren Community Centre, Whitton Road, Martins Heron, Bracknell, RG12 9TZ.

The cost per session is £2.00; this covers one parent /carer and one toddler. Additional toddlers will cost 75p each.

Please ensure that you sign the register on entry and all the names of the children you have with you are recorded, to comply with fire regulations.
In order to comply with our insurance, a maximum of three toddlers may attend with one parent/carer.

Fire Procedure
In the event of the fire alarm sounding during the session, please proceed immediately with your children, to the nearest fire exit. You will then be directed to an assembly point.

Responsibilities
Although we have staff at the group, children remain the responsibility of the parent/carer AT ALL TIMES. Please ensure the safety of the children at all times and that specific care is taken around the baby area.

We have lots of fun activities for the children to participate in; therefore, it is recommended children do not bring their own toys to the group. A lost or broken toy often causes distress and lots of tears!

We ask that your child/children do not go to the toilets on their own, please accompany them.

Should you see any unacceptable behavior from another child, please mention this to a member of staff, rather than deal with the matter directly.

Refreshments
A healthy snack will be provided for the children along with a drink of milk or water. We ask that your child sit down at the allocated snack table, when eating or drinking and that any spillages are mopped up immediately. Should your child have any allergies, please let us know.

We are very proud of our ‘Gold Award for Healthy Eating’, therefore we ask that no other food or drink is consumed during the session, especially sweets and chocolate as additionally, this does lead to both the floor and toys getting very sticky.

Tea & Coffee will be provided for the parent/carer, we would ask that these are only consumed in the designated area. Care should be taken with hot drinks around children.

We love to celebrate the children’s birthdays, instead of a cake, please bring in some exotic fruit or maybe a fruit smoothie. Do make sure you tell a member of staff so that we can help make the toddlers day special.

You will be required to provide a named beaker for your child’s drink.

Setting Up and Clearing Away
We operate a rota system, on a half -termly basis for preparing drinks, setting up and clearing away. We would ask that every parent/carer put their name down for at least one of these, each half term, to ensure the work load is spread evenly. Alternatively, why not team up with another parent and put your name down for two.

We cannot run the group without everyone doing their fair share, so please try and be as supportive as possible.

Arts & Crafts and Messy Play
Arts and Crafts and messy play will be available for the children, so please do not bring them to toddler group in their best clothes!

Some of the arts & crafts have small pieces, so please ensure your child is directly supervised AT ALL TIMES, in this area.
